BUILDING A BRIGHTER FUTURE
Our MISSION
North Star Family Services is committed to ensuring that every medically fragile and at-risk foster youth has a place to call home. We believe that by providing stable and supportive housing, we can give these vulnerable children the opportunity to grow, learn, and thrive. Through our dedication to building safe and nurturing environments, we strive to make a lasting impact on the lives of those we serve.
LATEST NEWS
North Star Family Services is proud to announce the opening of our second Lucas Home—a fully renovated, community‑based residence purchased and stewarded by North Star to provide stable, medically supportive housing for Washington’s most vulnerable foster youth.
This home reflects our core belief that children heal best in neighborhoods, not institutions. Our model preserves single‑family homes, keeps communities intact, and prevents essential housing stock from being absorbed by large corporate operators. Instead, we reinvest directly into local neighborhoods—upgrading homes, strengthening community health, and expanding access to dignified, trauma‑informed care.
The Lucas Homes initiative is building a statewide network of small, high‑quality, ADA‑accessible homes designed for medically fragile and at‑risk foster youth who too often fall through the cracks of traditional systems. By pairing evidence‑based residential care with community‑anchored housing, we are creating a scalable model that advances child well‑being, housing stability, and long‑term community resilience across Washington State.
Give more than money
These kids have spent years in a system where nothing belonged to them. No permanent clothes. No toys to call their own. No place that felt like home.
We're changing that — one donation at a time.
Visit our donations page to see how your clothes, sports gear, electronics, and household goods go directly to a child in our care. No reselling. No redistribution. It's their stuff, in their home, for keeps.
Every child deserves a dresser full of their own clothes. Help us fill it.
